Don't just sit, share your work!

#shareyourwork

On 6 February 2021, while I was searching for 'Calendar blocking' techniques  on YouTube, I found a video of a YouTuber, Ali Abdaal, titled 'How Writing Online made me a millionaire'. The best part of the video was the book he shared which was 'Show Your Work'  by Austin Kleon.

I searched for the book online and got to read it. I have attached the link to buy it down below.

The book is about putting yourself out into the online world. And the first chapter says 'You don't have to be a genius'. According to the author, everyone, be an artist or a curator, a master or an apprentice, an expert or an amateur everyone has the ability to contribute something.

Now, when I think of mysef I have all the degrees required to get a job but currently without a job, at home, afraid of the outer world and thinking I know nothing. But deep within me a voice says 'Whatever you have learnt till now is not nothing' which means I have the ability to contribute something too.

Austin Kleon in his book tells us to be an amateur because he believes amateurs might lack formal training, but they are all lifelong learners , and they make a point of learning in the open, so that others can learn from their failures and successes.

So, here am I trying to be an amateur, from now on  going to write blogs and learn again whatever I have learnt in my Engineering degree. I am going to learn it in front of you all in the public. First of all, I am going to start learning to make websites, a real website as required in the web development field.

Because, according to Austin Kleon, the best way to get started on the path to sharing your work is to think about what you want to learn and make commitment to learn it in front of others.

Now again he says, 'You don't really find an audience for your work, they find you. But it is not enough to be good. In order to be found, you have to be findable'.

So, don't just sit at home, share your work.

Be an amateur, find something to learn and learn it in front of others.

And, don't forget to join me into the journey of learning to code😃.
